Distribution |
|
|
| |
The distribution center of today is required to
respond at a much quicker pace than just a few years ago. When
"speed" or faster rates are introduced into a distribution
center the accuracy is often jeopardized due to insufficient
time to complete a required task. The receiving process is one
of the most important parts of a distribution center function,
but not the only function. If a SKU (Stock Keeping Unit) is
counted wrong, incorrectly identified or put-away in the wrong
location the supply chain will begin to fail.
If we look at the issues that are facing many of the
distribution operations within the supply chain, they are basic.
Many times Operations, Managers and Owners blame the day-to-day
issues for the operation problems, but in reality the problems
are a sign of growth, which creates the inefficiencies within
the operations. This may not be true in all cases but it may be
a major factor.
When working with a client, we establish an understanding of the
overall objectives of the project. After a review of the
operations is completed, the true problems can be identified and
addressed.
